I began practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Alexandre Andrade (instructor under Sergio Souza “Bolao” & Murilo Bustamante – both black belts under Carlson Gracie) in 1995. I had just started University and during this time I met and also became a student under the legendary Master Leopoldo DeLucca, an extraordinary Red & White belt, who gave me a lot of knowledge about the mechanics of jiu-jitsu. After DeLucca passed away, I decided to visit the training center at UGF (University of Gama Filho) and met Professor Pedro Gama Filho (DeLucca's close friend). I kept on training at a Gama Filho branch near my house until Pedro Gama Filho passed away in the same year.
Gama Filho Team has many black belts and they have a good relationship with Nova Geração Academy (founded by Francisco Albuquerque “Toco” and Rodrigo Medeiros, both Black belts 4th Degree under Carlson Gracie). My friend Marcus Cacella Kiko invited me to experience the environment of his team, and I didn’t stop defending the Nova Geração (New Generation) flag after that. I definitely found a second home at Nova Geração and Toco has supported me from the beginning.
Special Thanks to Masters Carlson Gracie, DeLucca, and Pedro Gama Filho, all in memoriam. Thanks to Master Toco and Rodrigo Medeiros for trusting my potential and character, and all of my training partners and students who have helped me develop.
